Kitchen Breakfast Nooks

Breakfast Nooks Are Not Just For Breakfast!

Breakfast nooks are the little eat-in areas usually incorporated at a bay window or off of the kitchen in a corner area.

The idea is to create a quaint, cozy space to enjoy your morning paper and coffee. Although it is not typically intended to replace a formal dining area, in many homes it does.

If done right this can also act as a comfortable place for your kids to work on their homework while you cook dinner or a cozy place for the family to gather around for a games night.

This banquette worked to warm up the space at the curved wall, making it more cozy. Also, check out the gorgeous wood floor!!
Breakfast nooks are a great way to add seating in an area that would otherwise not allow for enough space for the chairs to be comfortably moved in and out at a table, such as in this room!
Don't you love the arched "entrance" to this eat-in area? Again making this space warm and inviting.
This is a more modern take on the traditional breakfast nook. I'm really liking a lot of design elements in this space: the black window frames, the waterfall countertop at the beverage area, the reclaimed wood table, the wide planked floor. Kudos to this designer!
Breakfast nooks also allow for you to bring more of your personality into the space with the use of different fabrics on the chairs, pillows and bench seat covers.
These areas are also good for incorporating storage. Here they added drawers at the ends. Your designer may also suggest having the tops lift-up so you can easily place items inside of the "seats" from the top.
This was a great use of colour and mixed surfaces to add interest to the room.
Personally, I love curved banquettes! This was an interesting space, architecturally. Although, I'm not sure why the window is so small at the left, the rest of the design is appealing to me! What do you think?
I love this elegant space. I'm always attracted to furniture with tufting. (Seen here on the backs of the benches). I'm having a hard time with the scale of the height of the backs compared to the depth of the seats, but the rest of the design is spot on!
With all of us finishing up the last of our vacations before school starts, I thought I would end with this coastal design. Note here the drawers under the seats, it adds a nice design detail and useful storage. Also, note how many people can gather around in a relatively small space. Love this design! How about you?
